The Monkeys and the Moon: A Fable about Leadership

The King of the Monkeys sees the moon reflected in a deep well and doesn’t bother looking up to see it’s just a reflection. He orders all the monkeys in the kingdom to lock hands and lower him down to save the moon. The result is disastrous.

Performed with alto recorder and monkey voices, this Tibetan fable ends with the advice, “Life is tough enough. But with a bad leader telling you what to do, it’s nearly impossible.”
