ThinAirMusic©: Creating Music and Sounds on the iPad is a 4-day residency for middle and high school students that explores the use of digital instruments in Garage Band software. By learning to create and record original content––music and sound effects––students learn technology, arts and literature in one seamless learning process.

Session #2

We explore leitmotifs as musical language for characters/situations. What actions or emotions occur in the work story? What are Foley effects? Students create an actions/emotions map for the work story and experiment with leitmotifs in instruments of their choosing. How do I record my music? How do I cut and paste it? How do I delete bad takes? How do I share?
