In past years, Odds Bodkin has performed The Odyssey: Belly of the Beast for this audience of young men. This year, he’ll tell his companion tale from Homer, The Iliad: Book One. The war-shattering argument between Achilles, Greece’s greatest warrior, and Agamemnon, the all-powerful Lord Marshall of the Greek armies besieging Troy, cleaves closely to Homer’s original. Odds prefaces the piece, however, with another episode from Greek mythology, The Apple of Discord. The 1-hour performance is scored with 12-string guitar and features voices for Achilles, Agamemnon, Zeus, Hera, Athena, Aphrodite, Paris, and others.
